This haunting melody 'The Ashokan Farewell' has been arranged for violin and band by Captain John Perkins whose solo violin playing, recorded in the Abbey Road Studios on the 'Clovelly' label, has become regarded as a classic recording. It also has a unique distinction of being voted as the highest new entry in the Classic FM 'Hall of Fame 2000' chart and the highest riser in the 2001 Hall of Fame to 35th.
